Sacramento firefighter visits sick puppy he rescued

Sunday a Sacramento firefighter found a sick puppy tied up and alone in the rain on the side of a road.

Firefighter Thawley made the decision to pick up the sick pup, bring her back to Fire Station 14, dry her off and clean her up.

Thawley later brought the sick pup to the Front Street Animal Shelter, where employees have affectionately named her "Chunkie."

The firefighter came back later to check in on the pup, and their reunion was caught on video.

“As you can see from the video, she is very grateful!” Front Street officials wrote on Facebook.

Shelter members noted if Chunkie's owner cannot be found, the pup will be available for adoption soon.
