One dead, infant and others injured in south Sacramento shooting

An infant and several adults were injured in a drive-by shooting Saturday evening. One woman was killed.

One person is dead and several people, including an infant, are in the hospital after a drive-by shooting in south Sacramento Saturday evening.

According to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department, just after 7 p.m., deputies received multiple calls of a drive-by shooting along the 8600 block of Ardith Drive.  One of the callers said multiple people were shot.

Upon arrival, deputies found six people suffering from gunshot wounds, including a four-year-old child. A 27-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The other four adults, were all transported to an area hospital.

The sheriff’s department said the victims were at a barbeque when a small, compact car driving south on Ardith Drive fired several shots.

There is no known motive at this time.
