Teen who helped grant a wish gets one of her own

A Sacramento teen who helped grant a wish to a 7-year-old gets a wish of her own.

A Christmas tree lighting at 'The Wishing Place' turned into a big surprise for an area teenager.

Natalie Woodruff is getting her wish of a Christmas trip to New York City.

But here is where the story tugs at your heart.

Last year Natalie and her mom helped grant the wish of a 7-year-old earlier this year. Fast forward just a few months and Natalie was diagnosed with non-hodgkins lymphoma.

"what we're going through is really awful and it's no fun. and there's lots of bad days," said Natalie's mother, Karen Woodruff. "But the bad days are helping with a little dream."

Natalie and her group will have a VIP trip to New York city, including visits to many of the top tourists spots, limo rides and tickets to a broadway show.

"I'm so so stoked," Natalie said. "And I feel like when I get on the plane it will really feel real. I'll be like wow. I'm actually going to New York City."
