The day after Black Friday is known as Small Business Saturday and a Sacramento neighborhood is promoting their local businesses.
John Adair is with the Midtown Association, which is guiding visitors and shoppers to the area.
According to the National Federation of Independent Businesses, 95 million people took to small businesses in 2015, accounting for $16 billion in revenue.
"We just want to bring people down to help support and continue to grow in this fabric of Midtown," Adair said.
The association gave out gift cards to shoppers in the area Saturday to say thanks for helping out small businesses. Jim Relles has owner and operator of the 70 year old Relles Floral .
"We have a lot of specials today and actually we're gonna have 'em all weekend," Relles said.
He says small businesses are the backbone of the American economy.
Adair said small business owners often live, work, and invest in the community where their businesses are located. He said patronizing those businesses is an investment in the community.
