Police: Parking enforcement officer assaulted over ticket

SACRAMENTO – A Sacramento parking enforcement officer was assaulted for doing his job Sunday night, according to police.

A Sacramento police report stated the parking agent informed officers he had been assaulted while issuing a ticket in the area of 24th St. and 24th Ave. around 6:01 p.m. The officer added that the man had then stood in front of his car and would not let him leave.

According to the report, the man was verbally aggressive and threw the ticket at the parking agent.

Officers arrived at the scene, contacted 24-year-old Jake Thomas and arrested him for assault, delaying and obstructing in an officer's duties and violation of probation.
