Suspect identified in connection to Home Depot parking lot murder

SACRAMENTO - A man who is in custody in Butte County has been identified as a suspect in a man's murder at a Sacramento parking lot.

Hassan Alawsi, 46, was gunned down in front of the Home Depot at 4641 Florin Road about 7:30 p.m. March 16.

According to Sacramento Superior Court documents, an arrest warrant has been issued for murder and firearm charges for Jeffrey M. Caylor, 44, in connection to Alawsi's death.

"I feel very happy for police to catch those people that killed my brother," said Alawsi's brother who did not want to be identified.

According to the arrest warrant, Sacramento County sheriff's investigators say Caylor and his girlfriend, 43-year-old Kari Hamilton, were driving a stolen teal green Buick Le Sabre which was located in Chico.

Court records say the couple had Hamilton's 12-year-old son in the back seat of the car at the time of the murder.

Neighbors who live near near Hamilton on Walnut Avenue in Carmichael were shocked to learn the news. They said Hamilton's home was searched Tuesday evening by homicide investigators.

Hamilton and Caylor are also named in court records as suspects in an unrelated carjacking and robbery March 16. They are both in custody in Butte County Jail.
