SPD seeking public's help with recent fatal hit and run

The Sacramento Police Department is asking for the community’s help in identifying the driver and the vehicle involved in a fatal hit and run.

According to a press release, officers responded to a collision between a vehicle and pedestrian around 7:15 p.m., Tuesday, March 7, near the intersection of the Lemon Hill Avenue and Wilkinson Street.

The pedestrian was crossing Lemon Hill Avenue in a marked crosswalk when he was struck by the vehicle. The victim was declared dead by the time paramedics arrived. The vehicle — described as a light-colored, four-door sport utility vehicle — then fled eastbound on Lemon Hill Avenue.

The victim’s identity has not yet been released by the coroner’s office.
