Driver ejected, killed when his big rig crashes in Stockton

STOCKTON – A truck driver was killed after crashing into the parking lot of a Kentucky Fried Chicken in Stockton Tuesday afternoon.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the tractor-trailer was traveling north on Interstate 5 when it exited the Hammer Lane off-ramp.

CHP says the driver was killed by his own truck after he was ejected.

The big rig was empty and no other vehicles were involved.

CHP investigators think a blown tire started the crash. They also said the rig did not have seat belts.

The Hammer Lane off-ramp remains closed during the investigation and clean-up.
