Driver kills pedestrian in Stockton, strikes two moving vehicles, police cruiser

STOCKTON - Police are investigating a hit-and-run that killed a pedestrian Friday morning in Stockton.

The name of the victim has not been released. The driver, 48, was arrested. His name also has not been released.

Stockton police Lt. Tina Zakhary said the driver was heading north on El Dorado Street at about 7 a.m. when he struck and killed a pedestrian at the intersection of Sonora Street. He continued driving north on El Dorado Street for more than four miles, striking moving vehicles near the intersections of Alpine Avenue and March Lane.

Zakhary said when the driver reached Robinhood Drive, he backed into a police cruiser in an attempt to flee. The driver was then arrested.

Police were not injured, Zakhary said.
