How the Stockton police union helps needy school for 5th year

STOCKTON, Calif. - For the fifth year, it's seemed like Christmas in August for the kids and staff at McKinley Elementary School in Stockton.

That's after truckloads of supplies, equipment and furniture were delivered by members of the Stockton Police Officer's Association.

Monday, dozens of boxes and more than a hundred folding chairs were dropped off at the school. Students and staff showed their appreciation with applause, smiles and signs.

McKinley Principal Sonia Ambriz said the annual donation of supplies makes for a stronger community.

"It's a good way of having kids make the relationship with police, knowing they're reaching out to the community and doing wonderful things, not just on the streets where they see them, but at our schools," Ambriz said..

McKinley is located at the intersection of 9th Street and El Dorado Street in south Stockton.
