"People are excited about the holidays. For me they are a constant reminder my son is not here."
These are the words from Lecia Harrison while speaking about her 20-year-old son Brandon Harrison who was shot and killed nearly two months ago in Stockton.
"Who knew that Brandon's first Christmas with Noah would also be his last," said Lecia about Brandon's sons who are one years old and two years old.
The incident happened on Oct. 15 at 1:35 a.m. in Northeast Stockton on Leadon Drive at Bryant near East Hammer Lane and Highway 99. When Brandon was leaving a party, he was shot and killed.
"You know it's one of those cases that we know happened in front of people, but we really don't have a motive or any releasable suspect information," said Officer Joe Silva of the Stockton Police Department.
Lecia says her son had made some mistakes as a teenager, but had turned his life around by attending college and working as a youth organizer at Stockton’s Fathers and Families of San Joaquin. The organization helps those facing troubled lives.
“He made friends with everyone he met because he made everyone feel included," said Lecia.
Brandon’s sister Brittany Harrison says her brother was a shining star in the community.
“Even to this day I still wake up in disbelief. It’s heartbreaking. This is my baby brother. I’m eight years older than him so just imagine I fed him. I bathed him. I changed his diapers. I taught him how to walk. Like this is my baby," she said.
Brandon wanted to continue his work keeping young boys out of the criminal justice system. Now, his family is hoping whoever him will be arrested and face justice.
If you have any information on the case, you can remain anonymous by calling Stockton Crime Stoppers at (209) 946-0600.
