Stockton officer shoots, wounds suspect

A suspect was shot and wounded by a Stockton police officer Thursday evening.

The shooting happened in the 400 block of Glendora Avenue around 5:50 p.m. after the officer responded to a disturbance call, Officer Joe Silva said. The suspect was taken to a hospital to get treatment for his injuries; his condition is unknown.

When the officer first arrived at the scene, he saw the suspect fire shots at a man in a parking lot.

Silva said the suspect didn't put down the gun when the officer confronted him. The officer then shot and wounded the suspect.

The suspect then put down the gun and walked away, Silva said. The suspect was taken into custody and transported to the hospital.
