Suspect in fatal Stockton hit and run crash appears in court

STOCKTON - One of the two people accused of a hit-and-run crash that killed two people last Thursday in Stockton appeared in court Tuesday on murder, hit and run, and robbery charges.

Brittney Tamayo, 23, is the alleged driver of the car that was involved in a robbery, then a hit and run crash that killed two people. She allegedly ran a red light, and both she and her male companion attempted to flee after the crash. She was caught that night, while police continue to look for her companion, Tevin Taylor, also 23.

Tamayo was denied bail and given another court date. An uncle who identified himself as Jerry said in the hall outside the courtroom how sorry their family is for the two deaths.

"We feel bad for the family that lost (long pause). They'll never have their children back," Tamayo's uncle said.
