Low river level reveals possible human bones

The drought may have played a part in the discovery of what appears to be human bones near West Sacramento.

Capt. Larry Cecchettini with the Yolo County Sheriff's Office said a person walking along the Sacramento River at a weir and County Road 127 about 11 Friday morning noticed the bones protruding from a small muddy beach created by the low river level.

Cecchettini described the bones revealed thus far as small and few. He said there were a couple of teeth which looked to come from a human.

Yolo County coroner personnel and sheriff'd marine patrol deputies responded and were searching the area.

Cecchettini said the initial indication was the bones have been where they were found for a very long time.
