Woman arrested for Yolo Co. courthouse arsons

SACRAMENTO - A West Sacramento woman surrendered to authorities Wednesday night in connection to several fires at the Yolo County courthouse in Woodland overnight.

Yolo County sheriff's Capt. Larry Cecchettini said after investigators' questioning, Vanessa Arlene Rivers, 24, was arrested for arson and vandalism.

Cecchettini said evidence of arson was found at the court building's four entrances. The fires caused minor damage and weren't noticed until court personnel came to work later Wednesday morning. Court was delayed until 9:30 a.m. while sheriff's detectives investigated.

Rivers allegedly started the fires between 10:30 p.m. Tuesday and 12:30 Wednesday morning, according to Cecchettini.

Rivers was booked into Yolo County Monroe Detention Center with bail set at $150,000. Her arraignment was scheduled for Friday.
