What Sacramento weather records were broken in January?

SACRAMENTO - With more than a dozen broken records for downtown Sacramento, January 2014 will go down in history.

The highlights ranged from a record stretch of days with no rain, to the all-time record high temperature of January.

It was the third driest January on record with only 0.20 inches. At 52 days, the month shattered the record for the longest streak of consecutive days without rain during the rainy season.

In addition to breaking rain records, record high temperatures were set on a dozen days throughout the month. Included was the all-time record high of 79 set on Jan. 24. The old record was on Jan. 30, 1976.

There were seven days in January when temperatures were 70 degrees or higher. The previous record was six day set in 1976.
