A 20-year-old woman is recovering with her family in Roseville after being one of dozens injured a DUI-related crash in New Orleans in February.

Rachel Marinaro watched a drunk driver, who officials say was nearly three times over the legal limit, hit two cars before plowing over her legs at the annual Mardi Gras parade in New Orleans.

"It was just pure chaos," Marinaro said.

Marinaro suffered injuries to her right leg and will need several surgeries to repair her meniscus, ACL, and MCL. She'll need to have her surgeries in the Sacramento area for insurance reasons. She is staying with her parents in Roseville while she recovers.

Marinaro studies is studying to be a teacher at Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama -- Several of her friends who attended with her were also injured.

A GoFundMe has been set up to help pay for her medical expenses.
