Attorney: Escort's heroin use clouded judgment in tech exec's death

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - Defense attorneys for a woman accused of giving a Google executive a deadly dose of heroin on his yacht say their client had also injected herself, clouding her judgment.

26- year- old Alix Tichelman's lawyer says she didn't call for help because she panicked, and that the death was an accident, not malicious.

Tichelman is accused of leaving 51-year-old Forrest Hayes to die on his yacht in California after shooting him up with a fatal hit of heroin last November.

Police say surveillance video shows Tichelman gather her belongings, casually step over the bodyForrest Hayes to finish a glass of wine, then lower a blind before leaving the yacht. Police say Tichelman was a prostitute and Hayes a frequent customer.

She has pleaded not guilty to manslaughter and heroin charges.
