Oil, diesel fuel create hazmat scare in Granite Bay

SACRAMENTO - Hazmat responders were dispatched to a call of an unidentified leaking substance in Granite Bay Friday morning.

Officials at the scene near Mooney Rd. and Douglas Blvd. said somebody reported a substance leaking from five-gallon buckets under a tarp around 5:15 a.m.

Crews arrived shortly thereafter and began investigative procedures.

A portion of Mooney Rd. was closed due to the incident.

Teams later discovered the buckets contained used motor oil and diesel fuel, according to California Highway Patrol spokesman Rich Wetzel.
