Capitol Connection podcast: Surprisingly Newsworthy

Sometimes, even when you think you're prepared for the week's political news, you get a curveball. Or, in the case of this week, two curveballs.

This week's Capitol Connection podcast, back after another (sorry!) brief hiatus, tackles the climax of the Calderon investigation... where news broke just as we settled in to record this week's program... and the state Senate's surprise rollout of what would be America's first carbon tax.

Anthony York of the Los Angeles Times and I also quickly assess Gov. Jerry Brown's announcement -- with the two leaders of the Legislature -- of a short-term state response to the ongoing drought.

As always, you can subscribe to the podcast feed via either iTunes or SoundCloud.

NOTE: We recorded this conversation before Senate President pro Tem Darrell Steinberg, D-Sacramentol, called on Ron Calderon to resign...
