Sacramento ranks 5th geekiest city in the U.S.

Readers of Travel Leisure magazine say Sacramentans get an A for effort -- we got a perfect score for being active -- but our looks didn't get high marks in the survey (April 20, 2017)

Sacramento is a nerd hub.

At least that's according to Travel + Leisure Magazine.

The publication recently ranked Sacramento the second "least attractive city" in the nation.

Travel + Leisure readers may not give Sacramentans many points for beauty, but they do think Capitol City residents have brains.

Sacramento ranked 5th geekiest city in the U.S. based upon factors such as student communities, comic book shops, tech and start-up communities and Comic-Con festivals.

The findings are part of the magazine's annual America's Favorite Places survey where readers evaluate hundreds of cities and towns across different categories.

Readers actually placed the City of Trees (or is it the Farm-to-Fork Capitol?) above tech-hub San Francisco, which came in at no. 12.

Students at Sacramento State and UC Davis helped Sacramento earn its nerd stripes as well as numerous comic book locations such as Big Brother Comics and Empire's Comic Vault. Sacramento also hosts the Wizard World Comic Con, with over 20,000 fans attending each year.
