The Stockon/San Joaquin Food Bank is in desperate need of donations for their annual turkey food boxes.
Last year, the emergency food bank handed out 3,500 turkey food boxes. So far this year they only have only received 30 turkeys. Thankfully, due to several cash donations they will be able to purchase more turkeys but they will still be 600 turkeys short this holiday season.
“We feel a responsibility to provide turkeys at Thanksgiving, so that everyone in the San Joaquin County can enjoy a traditional holiday meal,” said Mike Donaghy, Food Bank Executive Director. “It’s coming down to crunch time for the Food Bank, and we are asking our generous community to help by donating 12-14 pound turkeys.”
The Food Bank has been handing out the holiday boxes to veterans and the elderly for 10 years and are hopeful residents will help them continue the tradition.
Donations can be dropped off at the Emergency Food Bank Main Pantry located at 7 West Scotts Avenue.
