Mo'Ne Davis tossed a shutout in Philadelphia's 8-0 win over Delaware, sending her team, the Taney Dragons, to the Little League World Series. The 13-year-old struck out six batters and allowed only three hits and three walks in her incredible performance.
Davis will become the 18th girl to play in the Little League World Series in its 68-year history. Another girl, Emma March from Canada's Region Champion will also play in the LLWS — the third time that two girls have played in the same LLWS.
According to Philadelphia Magazine, Davis has played with the Anderson Monarchs, a travel baseball team in South Philadelphia from the age of seven. Her fastball, according to the article, registers at a whopping 70 mph.
Earlier this month, Taney manager Alex Rice said she's so skilled he feels comfortable putting her at any position.
"She didn't just make the team," he told The Patriot-News. "At times, she'll carry the team."
