Phillies win another close one over Red Sox

Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Dominic Brown homered twice to back six solid innings from Kyle Kendrick, and Philadelphia clipped Boston, 4-3, in the opener of a two-game interleague set.

Ryan Howard and Erik Kratz also went deep for the Phillies, who have won two in a row over the BoSox since Monday's loss at Fenway Park.

Kendrick (5-3) allowed four hits and a pair of runs, walking three and striking out as many over his outing. Antonio Bastardo and Mike Adams each tossed a scoreless inning in relief, while Jonathan Papelbon survived a late Boston rally to earn his 11th save and second in as many games.

Daniel Nava homered, with Jacoby Ellsbury and Dustin Pedroia knocking in a run apiece for the Red Sox.

John Lackey (3-5) also toiled six full frames, but was charged in the setback with six hits and three runs.
