Students say he's so much more than just a workshop teacher. His own peers even call him everyone's favorite teacher. East Nicholaus High School's Randy Montre has been teaching at the school for more than three decades.
Montre says for past 35 years, he has been living his dream every day.
"It's my first job. I love it so much I stayed. The culture fit my personality," he said.
Montre comes from a long line of teachers. His father and uncles all shared the same passion for teaching.
His students describe his personality as upbeat and caring and always willing to help anyone. They say they have learned a lot in his class.
Montre says despite cutbacks at other schools, he has always had the support of East Nicklaus High and the local community to keep vocational education a priority.
But it's time to turn off the power tools. Montre is retiring to spend more time hunting, fishing, and enjoying the outdoors.
"It's a career that went by in a heartbeat. It was a blessing," Montre said.
