Sacramento Metro Fire District has received an unusual but quite welcome gift: a donated FedEx cargo plane.

The aircraft will be used by firefighters for crash disaster training. Homeland Security also uses the plane for developing and practicing tactics for agents in the case of terrorists taking over an aircraft, for example.

But first, the plane has to be driven, yes driven, not flown, from Mather airfield to a training site about a mile away.
