A nursing assistant at an Auburn elderly care home is accused of elder abuse and indecent exposure.
Marlo Santos Quinton, 57, of Auburn, was arrested Tuesday for exposing himself to two women at Auburn Oaks Care Center, located at 3400 Bell Rd., and kissing them against their will, Placer County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Dena Erwin said.
The sheriff's office began its investigation into Quinton after the women reported him. Erwin said Quinton cooperated with detectives during questioning.
The son of an alleged victim is very disturbed about the claims. Alan said his 81-year-old mother has been at the facility for the past 10 years.
"She's having a hard time with it," he said. "I don't know. We'll see what happens."
Alan said his family was notified Tuesday evening about the allegations.
Quinton was released Thursday from Placer County Jail after posting his $50,000 bail.
Quinton's wife said her husband is very depressed. She also said Quinton is a good man -- a good father and husband.
Colleagues said the allegations are hard to believe. Quinton has worked at the care home for the past 10 to 12 years.
Auburn Oaks Care Center Administrator Kevin Hadfield released the following statement about Quinton's arrest:
We immediately involved state and local authorities in an investigation that led to the arrest of an employee yesterday, 5/21/2013 (sic). This behavior is an isolated incident and does not reflect the compassionate care that is delivered each and every day by our dedicated staff. This has been a cooperative effort over the last three days to assess and remove any threat the employee posed. We strive every day to deliver the best care in a safe, home-like environment and we took immediate action when we learned about this incident. The employee has been terminated.
Consistent with our track record and 5-Star quality rating, we are working closely with residents and families to attend to their safety, health, and emotional well-being. We thank local police and officials at the California Department of Health for their swift response and help in this matter.
