Brenden Mincheff is a meteorologist at ABC10 in Sacramento. You can watch him every weekend morning at 6 a.m. and 9 a.m.

Brenden was born and raised in Central Florida. As a child he experienced three hurricanes – Charley, Frances, and Jeanne – in the span of six weeks. Brenden credits this with what got him interested in meteorology.

He later moved to Colorado where he graduated from the Metropolitan State University of Denver in 2020 with a B.S. in Meteorology. His senior research was in California wildfires.

Brenden started his television career at TEGNA's NewsWest 9 in Midland, Texas. While in West Texas, he saw it all: severe thunderstorms, tornadoes, snow, ice, heat, and wildfire. One of the highlights of his time in West Texas was the historic statewide winter storm in Feb. 2021. Midland-Odessa recorded their coldest low temperature in 30 years and he was standing outside in the -2° air!

Brenden also has a passion for science and was in Van Horn, Texas, when Jeff Bezos and Blue Origin launched their inaugural crewed flight. He also worked on a NewsWest 9 special about the Texas energy grid and cryptocurrency mining.

In July 2022, he accepted an opportunity with ABC10 to become the weekend morning meteorologist. He also does climate-related stories, as well as a weekly drought update series on YouTube.

In his free time, Brenden is probably enjoying a good book (weather/climate and historical books are his favorite), good food, or a road trip. He's excited to explore the great state of California with his fiancée. Brenden is also a big Tampa Bay Lightning hockey guy!

Brenden is always happy to chat with viewers in-person or online! You can connect with him on Facebook and Twitter. Have a weather and climate story idea? Email him at bmincheff@abc10.com.
