SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Calling all Yogis and Sacramentans looking for an outdoor exercise experience! The Midtown Association has partnered with Yoga Moves Us to present MiYo: Midtown Yoga in the Park for another spring and summer season.

Starting on April 2 through the end of September, free yoga classes are offered to the community on the north lawn of Fremont Park every Tuesday and Thursday. Free classes are also held the first Friday of the month at Sutter’s Fort.

Emily Baime Michaels, executive director of the Midtown Association, said the program has slowly grown over the years.

“When it originally started, it was just on Tuesdays,” she said. “Last year, halfway through the season, we added Thursdays and first Fridays because they were so popular.”

The hour-long sessions are suitable for all experience levels and ages.

“The instructors who teach MiYo created it because they really would like to make yoga free and accessible to people who’d like to practice in the park,” Michaels said.

What you need to bring:

  • Yoga mat
  • Towel
  • Water

There is a limited supply of mats available to borrow. Class schedules may change in the case of rain. Updates and parking information can be found here.
