Get ready Pokémon fans, for the first time ever the beloved world is coming to life. 'Pokémon: Detective Pikachu' is the first live-action Pokémon adventure, and the first theatrical film since 'Pokémon 3: The Movie,' back in 2000.

The good news is this movie is one for fans both new and slightly older. Fans of Pokémon will enjoy seeing so many old friends pop-up throughout the film. The real star here is Ryan Reynolds who told Maria Gloria he put his soul into Pikachu. At some points, you might actually forget you are watching motion capture and see Reynolds rather than Pikachu.

Reynolds has seemed to enjoy his time as Pikachu, sharing videos of his journey as a Pokemon across social media. The star also pulled off an epic prank on Tuesday, sending out a tweet that appeared to link to a leak of the full 'Detective Pikachu' movie. Curious fans who followed the bait were instead treated to nearly two hours of Pikachu dancing.

'Pokémon: Detective Pikachu' synopsis from Warner Bros:

The story begins when ace detective Harry Goodman goes mysteriously missing, prompting his 21-year-old son Tim to find out what happened. Aiding in the investigation is Harry’s former Pokémon partner, Detective Pikachu: a hilariously wise-cracking, adorable super-sleuth who is a puzzlement even to himself. Finding that they are uniquely equipped to work together, as Tim is the only human who can talk with Detective Pikachu, they join forces on a thrilling adventure to unravel the tangled mystery. Chasing clues together through the neon-lit streets of Ryme City—a sprawling, modern metropolis where humans and Pokémon live side by side in a hyper-realistic live-action world—they encounter a diverse cast of Pokémon and uncover a shocking plot that could destroy this peaceful co-existence and threaten the whole Pokémon universe.
