Lots to see at Nice’s ‘Lunch Box Museum’

Clark's Collectibles, aka The Lunch Box Museum, in Nice, California, is a welcome respite in the heart of where the Mendocino Complex Fires burned.

The Mendocino Complex Fire has cast a gloomy cloud over Clear Lake, California, but there is one place where you can have a good laugh: Clark's Collectibles.

Better known as the Lunch Box Museum, its home is in the little town of Nice. Deb Clark and her husband started the odd collection back in 1985.

"I have 900 lunch boxes. Maybe more," Deb told ABC10.

Deb has more lunch boxes than there are days in the year and there is something for everyone.

"Popeye, Casper Flipper, Star Wars...," Clark listed. "Some are really rare. Some are worth about a grand."

Deb has sold so many lunch box memorabilia items she is an EBay award-winning seller. And if you thought the lunch box collection was weird, wait till you see the back of the store. Deb's husband collects and refurbishes old Animatronics robots. Similar to the one you would see in a Chuck E. Cheese, but older.

"Some of his collection dates back to the 1930s," said Deb.

One of the most popular robots is "Laughing Sally". For just a quarter, you can hear the large, scary looking woman laugh and rock back and forth.

It's hard to put a price tag on the collection, but Deb says it has lots of sentimental value.

"Well, first off, I have a issues. My mother threw my Barbie lunch box away because I spilled milk in it. It was a really sad moment for me."

Some may say Deb's childhood tragedy turned into an obsession, but to her it's not that complicated.

"I just think its fun," Deb explained.

If you're not in the market for a lunch box, you can always visit the store for a laugh.
