One person killed in south Sacramento Traffic accident, police confirm

Details of the accident are unclear. The intersection is expected to be closed while police investigate.

SACRAMENTO, Calif — A busy intersection in south Sacramento is closed Friday morning after a driver collided with and killed a pedestrian crossing the street in a wheelchair, police officials confirmed.

According to Sacramento Police spokesperson Marcus Basquez, the accident happened just before 3:30 a.m. at the intersection of Mack Road and Center Parkway. Basquez said a person driving a gray BMW was travelling west on Mack Road when the driver hit someone in a wheelchair.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead on the scene.

Basquez said the driver called the accident in and has been compliant.

The intersection is expected to be closed for two hours while police investigate.
