Mental Illness: "It's not always what you think"

Dealing with mental illness can be difficult when those diagnosed with it constantly go through discrimination and the negative stigma attached to mental illness. Sacramento County has created the ' Mental Illness: It's not always what you think' project to create awareness and to inspire hope for the individuals living with mental illness.

Sac&Co Host Mellisa Paul had the opportunity to talk with Stop Stigma Sacramento Speaker Jessica Walker and Albert Titman, a health and behavioral Lead Counselor for Sacramento Native American Health Center Incorporated about their stories. Jessica and Albert elaborated about the misconceptions of mental illness and what friends and family members can do to help. Jessica and Albert also explained what the Stop Stigma Sacramento Speakers Bureau is and how they're creating awareness.
