This year, Trish Koszalka saw one of her dreams come true – and it only cost her $100. The winner of the 2019 Sacramento St. Jude Dream Home® Giveaway was surprised and honored to be one of the hundreds of winners across the country to support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®.
Estimated to be valued at $535,000, the single-family house was built by Turn-Key Construction Group, Inc. and is located in Cameron Park in Sacramento. The home features approximately 2,100 square-feet, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and a garage.
Not only does the St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway benefit the new homeowner, but also the patients of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital who are battling cancer and other deadly diseases such as patient Datiauna Gordon.
“Dai Dai was originally diagnosed with bilateral Retinoblastoma (eye cancer) here at the Children's Hospital in Denver. After discussions with the medical team assigned to us we decided to go to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital to continue treatment there. From the first day of arriving at St. Jude, Dai Dai was given the greatest sincerity and care I believe available to her”, said mom Di Di Gordon. “Every chemotherapy and radiation treatment she received they made her feel as comfortable as they could, which made it better on her and us as the parents as well. We are very happy that we chose St. Jude for her treatment. She looks forward to her follow up visits, even though it is for cancer checkups.”
For the past 25 years, St. Jude has given away over 420 houses and raised over $350 million through the St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway campaign, the largest single-event fundraiser for the hospital. It’s because of programs like this that families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food, so they can focus on helping their child live.
The construction of a home would not be possible without the generous support of the community and loyal sponsors including: Turn-Key Construction Group, Inc., ABC10, KNCI 105.1, McCreery’s Home Furnishings, Patelco Credit Union, Hoblit Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM, The Sacramento Bee, Sacramento Magazine, and national sponsors Brizo, Shaw Floors, Bosch, and Trane.
