Decorating, holiday cards, cookie decorating, holiday parties, kids school sing-a-longs...the list goes on this time of year.

Professional organizer Kim Salisbury, shared with ABC10 some best practices for holiday gift giving.

Her number one rule is to give gifts that won't add clutter. Pick something practical that they can either use up right away or re-purpose. When you head out to shop, keep this in mind.

Also, along with your list, have an idea of how much you'll be spending on each.

Think about buying some extra gifts for those last-minute parties or "Secret Santa" gifts.

Lastly, KEEP IT SIMPLE. Look for pre-wrapped items to grab and go when time is limited.
