When it comes to dog parks, the breeches in etiquette rarely have to do with the dogs, but with the humans who brought them there. Here are a few tips for making sure you aren't the bad pet parent at the dog park.

The City of Sacramento has their official list of rules for its 12 dog parks, legal rules, like dogs must have a current license, owners are personally responsible for their dogs and use the parks at their own risk. But don't discount good old-fashioned etiquette!

The dog park is not the time to browse your Twitter feed! Just like a child, you’ve got to watch your pet at all times.

Speaking of kids, leave the little ones at home! Not all dogs do well with children, besides, they’ve got playgrounds of their own!

Just because a park has gone to the dogs, doesn’t mean you don’t clean up after your dog. Come on! Yuck!

Don’t bring your dog’s favorite toy to the dog park. They’ll be crushed if it gets left behind or taken by a more aggressive animal.

Hungry? You can wait! Be considerate of everyone - human and canine – and save your meal time for later!

Follow these tips and be the stellar pet parent who everyone else strives to be!
