WASHINGTON — A new Forever stamp design was revealed by the United States Postal Service honoring former President George H.W. Bush.
His stamp design is a portrait painted by Michael J. Deas, an award-winning artist, and it is based on a 1997 photograph taken by Timothy Greenfield-Sanders.Phil Jordan was noted as the art director and stamp designer.
The former president died Nov. 30, 2018 at the age of 94. He's recognized for guiding the United States through the end of the Cold War and driving the creation of a multinational coalition that forced Iraq to withdraw from Kuwait in the Persian Gulf War.
A first-day-of-issue ceremony will be held on the June 12, the president's birthday, at the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum. The stamp is available for pre-order at usps.com/stamps.
