Victim of Woodland triple shooting died days before his 17th birthday | Update

Officers located a person with a gunshot wound on railroad tracks in Woodland Monday evening, the department said.

Editor's Note: We previously identified Alvaro Gamera as a 17-year-old who would have turned 18 on Oct. 23. He was 16-years-old and would have turned 17 on his birthday. We previously identified Gamera as Alvaro Gamer.

The Woodland Police Department is investigating a shooting that left one person dead while two others were sent to the hospital, according to the department.

Officers responded to a "shots fired call" at North Street and East Street in Woodland around 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21. They located a person with a gunshot wound on the railroad tracks, according to the department. The person was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The Yolo County Coroner's office identified the victim as Alvaro Gamera, 16, of Esparto. Gamera's birthday is Oct. 23, 2002. He died days before turning 17 years old.

Around the same time, a witness pointed out a car to officers leaving the scene. Police chased the car, which ended up driving to Woodland Memorial Hospital. Woodland Police Department Sgt. Victoria Danzl said police soon realized they were dealing with two additional victims.

"At that time it was discovered there were two occupants in the vehicle that had sustained injuries. They were treated by emergency room personnel for non-life- threatening injuries," Danzl said.
