3 prisoners who walked away from Cal Fire work detail found

The prisoners were doing Cal Fire detail in Amador County when they walked away.

The three inmates who walked away from Cal Fire work detail at the Pine Grove Conservation Camp have been found. 

The Amador County Sheriff's Department found the three men around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 9.

Three prisoners working from Pine Grove Conservation Camp in Amador County walked away from a work detail on Tuesday, corrections officials said.

The men, identified as 19-year-old Stanley Hill, 19-year-old Robert Lee Sneed and 18-year-old Derrick Scott Peterson were on a work assignment for Cal Fire, clearing brush near Mitchell Mine Road, about three miles to the northwest of the camp, when they went missing, according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR).

The prisoners were last seen at 11 a.m. but were not confirmed to be missing until around 1:45 p.m., officials said.

Hill is described as an African-American male, approximately 5’11” tall, and weighing 174 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes, and wears glasses. Sneed is described as an African-American, approximately 6’ 2” tall, and weighing 188 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. Peterson is described as a Hispanic male, 5’10” tall and weighing 152 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

All three were last seen wearing khaki shirts, green T-shirts, blue jeans and boots. They may also be carrying red duffle bags.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP), Cal Fire, the Office of Correctional Safety and the CDCR Juvenile Justice Division are working together to track down the prisoners.

If you spot any of the men, or if you have any information regarding their whereabouts, you are asked to call 911 or local law enforcement immediately.
