70 citations, 5 DUI arrests in western El Dorado County amid holiday weekend, CHP says

The enforcement operation will be continuing through the Valentine's Day weekend.

EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. — A Valentine's Day weekend enforcement operation from CHP-Placerville has yielded a number of alleged DUI arrests and citations.

CHP-Placerville said their officers and sergeants saturated the western slope of El Dorado County, issuing about 70 citations and five arrests on DUI charges.

Authorities said five drivers were jailed and a number of vehicles were impounded for having expired registration and unlicensed drivers.

CHP said the enforcement is being done to remind people driving on Highway 50 and elsewhere in El Dorado County that they won't be tolerating "speeders, drunk drivers, or law breakers on the road."

The enforcement operation started Saturday afternoon and continues through the holiday weekend.
