Burglary call at West Sacramento Target store leads to arrests, chase

Four people were arrested following a commercial burglary call at a West Sac Target. One of the four, though, didn't give up easily.

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Four people were arrested accused of stealing $1,000 worth of cosmetics from a Target store in West Sacramento, Wednesday evening.

One of the four arrested, however, is facing more serious crimes after police said she tried to drive a car into police officers before leading them on a short chase.

It happened around 6:30 p.m. According to West Sacramento Police, officers were called out to the Target store located in the Town Center Plaza on a report of a commercial burglary.

Police said as they arrived they saw the four people piling into a waiting car. Officers said they pulled up to the car and demanded the people inside get out. The driver and a passenger complied, but according to police, the front seat passenger then climbed into the driver’s seat and took off but not before a third passenger got out and surrendered.

While she was fleeing, police said the woman steered toward tow of the officers, but they were able to get out of the way in time. The chase soon ended when the woman lost control of the vehicle and crashed into another car along S. River Road. The woman and the driver of the car she crashed into both sustained minor injuries, police said.

West Sac Police said the three people who surrendered outside of Target are facing complaints of conspiracy and burglary. The woman who fled is looking at charges of assault with a deadly weapon and evading police. None of the suspects have been identified at this time.
