85-year-old man killed in Elk Grove hit and run identified

According to the Sacramento County Coroner's office, the man was identified as Edward Villasenor.

ELK GROVE, Calif. — The Sacramento County Coroner's Office identified the victim of a deadly hit and run in Elk Grove as Edward Villasenor, 85.

Villasenor was killed after a red-colored SUV crashed into him while he was standing on the west shoulder of Waterman Road, according to Elk Grove police.

The SUV was heading northbound on Waterman Road until it veered across the roadway for unknown reasons and hit Villasenor, authorities said. The car left the scene after the crash heading north on Waterman and then westbound on Calvine Road.

Police are still searching for the vehicle that they believe killed him. They described the vehicle as a late 1980's to early 2000's GMC or Chevrolet SUV that might have major front-end damage.

The driver was described as a Caucasian or Hispanic male.
