FAIRFIELD, Calif. — A Fairfield man who was on the run after allegedly assaulting a detective with his car has been arrested in Nebraska, according to Fairfield police.
Police said they initially tried to contact Robert Hanson, 47, for a narcotics investigation while he was driving around the 300 block of Dahlia Drive on Nov. 1. During that incident, investigators said Hanson assaulted an officer with a vehicle and a shooting occurred where a detective fired his weapon.
Hanson’s Jaguar was located later that night on Beck Ave. The car was taken as evidence and a search was conducted by CSI. The search revealed a handgun, evidence of a marijuana butane lab, and marijuana, according to police.
A warrant for Hanson's arrest was issued for numerous crimes, including assault with a vehicle on an officer, possession of a firearm/ammunition by a convicted felon, manufacturing a controlled substance, fleeing in a vehicle, resisting arrest, and committing a new felony while out of custody pending a separate criminal prosecution.
Detectives said they learned Hanson may have fled California. Nebraska State Patrol identified Hanson as a passenger in a car on a highway just outside of Nebraska City, Neb., on Nov. 18. He was arrested on the warrant and additional crimes. During their search, troopers found a short sword, knife, methamphetamine, and marijuana.
Fairfield detectives flew out to Nebraska Nov. 19 to interview Hanson and collect evidence. Hanson will go through extradition proceedings in Nebraska and then be transferred back to Solano County to face his charges, according to the Fairfield Police Department.
