Fairfield man tried to run officer over with car, police say | Update

Robert Hanson, 47 of Fairfield, is being sought by police after an alleged assault with a deadly weapon and a shooting involving an detective unfolded.

FAIRFIELD, Calif. — Update: 9:30 p.m.

Authorities say they have found Hanson Gold Jaguar in Fairfield, however, Hanson himself is still at large.

Police are searching for Hanson after he allegedly tried to run over a Fairfield detective with his car.

A Fairfield man is on the run after he allegedly assaulted a detective with his car.

Fairfield police identified the man as Robert Hanson, 47 of Fairfield-Suisun. According to police, Hanson has an extensive criminal history that involves firearms, vehicle pursuits, drugs, and hostage taking.

Police said when they initially tried to contact Hanson for a narcotics investigation while he was driving around the 300 block of Dahlia Drive, he assaulted an officer with a vehicle and a shooting occurred where a detective fired his weapon.

Police are currently looking for Hanson and the Gold 1994 two-door Jaguar that he left the are in. The license plate for the car is 5MOE190.  

All officers are said to be OK, and the situation in the neighborhood has been stabilized, according to police. It's not known if Hanson received any injuries.

Fairfield police ask anyone who sees Hanson to call 911 and not contact him.
