Lodi shootout suspect charged with attempted murder

Marco Aquino, 37, exchanged fire with an officer on Nov. 5 in Lodi.

LODI, Calif. — A man is facing multiple charges after engaging in a  Nov. 5 shootout with a police officer, according to the Lodi Police Department.

Marco Aquino, 37, was charged with attempted murder, assault on a peace officer with a deadly weapon and two counts of burglary, according to the Lodi Police Department. He was also charged for several gun and drug charges.

Aquino was armed with a semiautomatic rifle and semiautomatic handgun when he came in contact with an officer on Nov. 5. He and the officer exchanged fire, which led to Aquino being shot multiple times. Aquino was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Marco Aquino, 37, was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail on several charges, including attempted murder and assault on a peace officer.

The officer involved in the shooting has been with the department for 17 months and is assigned to the patrol division, according to the department. He was not injured in the incident.
