9 arrested after meth, gun found in Butte County home

Detectives found meth, a gun and ammunition during an investigation into an alleged drug trafficking operation at a home off Skyway Road.

MAGALIA, Calif — Nine people were arrested after a weeks-long investigation into allegations that drugs were being trafficked from a Magalia home in Butte County, according to a news release from the Butte County Sheriff's Office. 

Detectives from the Felony Investigations Unit served a search warrant at the property in the 14000 block of Skyway Road on Thursday, Oct. 10 — the culmination of a sting that began this past September. The release said 12 adults and a child were home at the time, and during the search, detectives found 3/4 of a pound of methamphetamine, a gun, ammunition and drug paraphernalia. 

The child is being cared for by Children's Services, according to the release. 

The following adults were arrested: 

  • Terrance Wharton, 67, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine for sale, possession of ammunition by a prohibited person, maintaining a residence where narcotics are sold and managing a property where narcotics are sold.
  • Chad Wharton, 41, was arrested for felony child endangerment, possession of a controlled substance and possession of narcotic paraphernalia.
  • James Mahoneythurman, 28, was arrested for being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm and ammunition.
  • Jessica Williams, 45, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine for sale and possession of narcotic paraphernalia.   
  • Brent Neville, 33, was arrested for a felony arrest warrant.
  • Donald Brewer, 59, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and possession of narcotic paraphernalia.
  • Kimberly Thompson, 52, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and possession of narcotic paraphernalia.
  • Jessica Joyce, 30, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and possession of narcotic paraphernalia.
  • Brandon Seaton, 23, was arrested for possession of narcotic paraphernalia.
