Around 12:30 p.m., officers responded to an orchard near Folsom Boulevard and Rod Beaudry Drive on a call about a suicidal person holding a gun threatening police and neighbors. According to a report by the sheriff’s office, as officers were setting up their perimeter, the suspect, 33-year-old Daniel Bingenheimer, fired at least one round. None of the officers were injured, but a park ranger’s car was hit. None of the officers returned fire.

Members of the sheriff’s office Special Enforcement Detail (SED) were then called in and they were able to arrest Bingenheimer without incident, the sheriff’s office said.

Bingenheimer was taken to the Sacramento County Main Jail on a complaint of assault with a firearm on a police officer, as well as other charges.
