Man killed in shooting near Sacramento's Strawberry Manor Park

The shooting happened Saturday afternoon. Police closed the park while investigating the shooting.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A man was shot and killed Saturday afternoon near Strawberry Manor Park in Sacramento, according to Sacramento police.

Police responded at about 3 p.m. to the 200 block of Danville Way, Sacramento Police Sgt. Vance Chandler said.

The park was closed Saturday evening with a memorial set up by the park’s sign. Police wouldn’t elaborate if the shooting happened in the park or nearby. 

Sacramento Fire Department personnel took the victim to a local hospital where he died from his wounds, police said.  The victim’s name hasn’t been released.

Detectives don’t have a motive at this time, Chandler said.
