Mother driving with 3-year-old daughter charged with DUI after crashing in Manteca, police say

Police say her blood alcohol content was about three times over the legal limit.

MANTECA, Calif. — Manteca police say a mother was charged with DUI after she crashed a car while her daughter was inside.

The crash happened around 12:23 a.m. near the 1900 block of London Avenue near Koemenich Drive when a Honda Civic drove into a parked Toyota Tundra, according to police.

Police say the driver was heading southbound when it veered to the right and crashed into the Tundra.

The driver, identified as Ana Farias, was with her three-year-old daughter during the crash. While the mother went to the hospital with minor injuries, the child was uninjured.

Police said no one was in the Tundra when the crash happened.

As police continued their investigation, they contacted Farias again. Police said Farias' blood alcohol content was about three times over the legal limit.

She was arrested on charges of driving under the influence, having no license, and child endangerment.

Farias was booked into San Joaquin County Jail, and the child was relinquished to an adult, according to police.
