The Placer County Sheriff's Department said they found Gary Ruble, 27, walking away from the fire that spread to over 100 feet in less than a minute.

PLACER COUNTY, Calif. — Placer County Sheriff's deputies arrested a Sacramento man who was walking away from a 10-acre fire near Thunder Valley Casino on Tuesday night, the department said.

Gary Ruble, 27, told Placer County Sheriff's deputies that he hadn't noticed the fire next to him.

Due to strong winds, the fire spread to over 100 feet in less than a minute. Cal Fire was able to extinguish the fire.

Ruble was arrested after an investigation by arson investigators with the Placer County Sheriff's Office and Cal Fire. He is in custody at the Placer County jail with a bail of $150,000.
